Photo Vogue

I learned about submitting to a portal on Vogue a few years ago from a dear friend. I saw their posts on social media and reached out, they didn’t hesitate to reach back with all of the details.

In this creative industry having someone be so free with information is rare and I treasure this friendship.

Once I got the information on how to submit to this portal I started doing it religiously.

You used to be able to submit two photos on Monday and Tuesday to the portal, now you can only submit on Monday. The publication is based in Italy so I get up in the middle of the night or first thing in the morning at the crack of dawn to send photos into this magic portal that Vogue hosts.

Sometimes your photos get accepted right away and sometimes they don’t. It’s a fickle process that requires thick skin and I only started to keep track of my submissions a couple of years ago and I am kinda sad I didn’t track it all along.

Hours and a heap of images have gone into this process.

It’s the recognition that we seek and when we get it from Vogue, as fashion photographers we squeal with glee.
