Tofino, we are all one.

Having grown up in Halifax Nova Scotia, I have always been drawn to the sea and have spent most of my life either by it or in it. During my time in the Caribbean, I learned how to surf on a longboard, at one point bartering a haircut for a surfboard. I have also had a lifelong interest in photography, literally never leaving home without a camera.

After moving to the West Coast 16 years ago one of the first places I visited was Tofino and it is my favourite place in the world, returning to it whenever possible. On my most recent visit, I had with me numerous rolls of 120mm film and my medium format camera. I went with the intention of interacting with the people who enjoy the surf culture and this book, which is the result, I am delighted to share with you. I thank all those who love the sea as much as I do and who were happy to have a portrait taken. The final image is of a phrase I found carved into a dead tree on Chesterman's Beach and that resonates with me, 'we are all one'

I have had solo exhibitions in the US Virgin Islands, Toronto, Vancouver and Halifax. During Project Instant V6.0 for capture 2019 at Science World, my trio of Polaroids won the best creative series. In the last few months, I have also had a number of my portraits selected for inclusion in Vogue Italia.
